Bougainvillea flowers in bloom

These are few pics of bougainvillea I took the other day. Although it is quite common but it takes many years to grow. The name bougainvillea comes from a French admiral who it seems “discovered” it Brazil, some of these origins of names makes you cringe. I would have preferred the name the inhabitants referred to this flower rather than invader.
Like all Bangaloreans I too mourn the cutting of bougainvillea plant at Kumble circle, it was a beautiful sight.
